Interview participants needed!

Calling all former sorm volunteers & staff

Are you a Second World War RCAF/RAF radar veteran who has been involved in the creation or operations of the Secrets of Radar Museum? Are you a close family member of a veteran who has been involved with SORM? Did you ever attend a reunion of WWII radar veterans? Were you a Board Member, employee, or volunteer with the museum between the years 2001 and 2017? If so, Maya would like to invite you to an interview.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, interviews will be held remotely either by Zoom, MS Teams, or similar virtual meeting space, or by telephone, and recorded for transcription. Participants will have the option to remain anonymous. Participation is strictly voluntary, but all interviewees will be compensated for their time with their choice of a gift card worth$25 to a major Canadian retailer (Shoppers Drug Mart, for instance) or local (London, Ontario) restaurant.

Maya Hirschman, former curator and manager/current Board Member for the Secrets of Radar Museum, is seeking volunteer participants to aid in her PhD thesis research. She's looking into the creation of the museum and the role it played for the veterans, staff, and volunteers who founded it. She is also interested in understanding how memory and secrecy have shaped the way the radar story is told.

If you wish to participate, please contact Maya Hirschman directly: maya.hirschman (at) mail.utoronto.ca
